Troedelmarkt der Traeume
My photo concept is based the Poem "Troedelmarkt der Traeume" from Michael Ende.
Here is an english translation i made:
Flea Market of Dreams
Today i was on the flea market of dreams,
at the edge of the world, and there were a lot of
stolen, trashed and damaged things,
like second- and thirdhand Dream-junk.
Magic Carpets destroyed by moths,
blained halos, stars and braid,
air castles without keys eaten away by oxidation,
and puppets, once loved, now without heads ...
And suddenly, under all this trash,
i found the beautiful dream of our love.
Its gold was blind, it was broken, but
it was our dream - and still beautiful as ever.
I would like to give this dream back to you
and ask that pale feller for it,
he grins to me toothless, coughed up
and requires a barefaced prize.
Indeed it was it‘s value - anyhow i bargained.
The other kept silent, but he didn‘t squat.
Therefore i wasn‘t able to buy.
I don‘t feel good. I‘m not that rich anymore.
One thing i would like to know,
as i grounded-off with emty hands,
our dream: was it given - stolen - thrown away?
My beauty, say - how came this dream to here?
(Michael Ende)
Concept:
Pictures of thrown away, worn out, used,
things that once had been loved or
could have been symbols of love.
The search for the right mood of Dream Pictures.
The building of dream landscapes, collages, weird and surrealistic.
